United States Draped Bust Large Cent coin
History
The Draped Bust Large Cent was produced by the United States Mint from 1796 to 1807. This design, featuring Liberty with flowing hair and draped bust on the obverse and a wreath on the reverse, was created by engraver Robert Scot as an improvement over the previous Liberty Cap design. These coins were made of nearly pure copper and measured about 29mm in diameter. Draped Bust Large Cents are highly sought after by numismatists and American coin collectors for their historical significance as some of America's earliest federal coinage. These coins circulated widely during the early republic period and represent an important artifact from the formative years of the United States monetary system.
