Antique wooden ladle with carved handle. Origin: Norway

A bowl-shaped milk strainer cut out of a single piece of wood. With rectangular handles with grips on each side, and a hole in the middle to put a silk cloth over. The silk cloth allowed the milk to flow into the bucket through the hole while impurities such as hair and dust and other dirt remained on top of the cloth. Later, milk strainers were made of metal and the wooden version then became an object that went out of style and is today mostly only found in museums.
