Silver bullion coin titled "American Silver Eagle" by United States Mint
History
The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States, first issued in 1986 and struck in one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Its obverse uses Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design, while the reverse (not shown here) carries the heraldic eagle design used on bullion issues through 2021. The photographed example shows strong rainbow/amber toning, and the visible date reads 1992. This coin is appealing to bullion buyers and modern U.S. coin collectors because it combines intrinsic silver value with a widely recognized government-issued design and strong market liquidity. Naturally toned examples can be especially desirable to toning specialists and registry-style collectors when the color is attractive and the surfaces are problem-free. Interest comes from silver stackers, U.S. Mint bullion collectors, and collectors who focus on colorfully toned modern issues.
