History
The Roosevelt Dime was introduced in 1946 to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who passed away in 1945. The coin was designed by John R. Sinnock and features Roosevelt's profile on the obverse and a torch flanked by olive and oak branches on the reverse. Dimes minted from 1946 to 1964 contain 90% silver, while those produced from 1965 onward are made of a copper-nickel clad composition. Roosevelt Dimes are highly collectible among numismatists, particularly those in uncirculated condition, with mint errors, or from key dates. Collectors value these coins for their historical significance, connection to one of America's most influential presidents, and the silver content in pre-1965 examples. The coin remains in active circulation today, making it accessible to both casual collectors and serious numismatists who appreciate its enduring design and historical legacy.
